Taha Tinana is one of our after school community focused activities for youth in the Linwood community to engage with. Taha Tinana is a sport and play based activity for rangatahi aged Year 7-13. The kaupapa for Taha Tinana is to provide safe environments for rangatahi to engage in physical activity to support their overall hauora.
Taha Tinana happens on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm – 4:00pm on the grounds of Te Aratai College. Free kai for afternoon tea is provided and all activities are free of charge. Rangatahi from any school and within in the community are welcome to join for Taha Tinana.
You’ll find the Kāwai Pahi parked up at Eastgate Mall every second Wednesday after school.
At the Kāwai Pahi pop up events rangatahi can engage with fun activities including, PS5, VR crafts, games, cooking and more.

Kāwai Club
Held fortnightly from 2:45pm – 4pm on Wednesdays at Linwood Library, Kāwai Club offers an exciting and inclusive space for anyone in Year 6 through 13.
At Kāwai Club, our youth workers provide activities to cater to all interests. From creativity through arts and crafts, friendly competitions in E-gaming and board games, as well as opportunities to connect with Library staff. There's never a dull moment.
We regularly team up with our collaborative partners like
Youth and Cultural Development (YCD) to put on youth events for rangatahi in the Greater Linwood community.
These events aim to foster positive youth engagement, offering a range of activities from sports events to outdoor movies. To stay updated with upcoming events follow us on Instagram or Facebook where we advertise these events.
Community Youth Events
Te Huarahi/Linwood Avenue School
Some of our youth workers regularly support Linwood Avenue School with lunchtime activities, giving tamariki opportunities for structure play at lunchtime. This support has a flow on affect as many tamariki from Linwood Avenue move into Te Aratai College and connect with our team through our Community Youth Events and activities at Eastgate Mall.
